Building Junior Triathlon in the Capital – Next Level
The CJTDA provides a junior training environment that ensures each athlete is learning and having fun, no matter what the age or skill level. The aim is develop confident and creative athletes while also teaching essential social skills such as good sportsmanship and respect, in addition to a good attitude to training and competition.
The CJTDA includes weekly training sessions of swim, bike, run and transitions, plus access to one of Triathlon Australia’s most accomplished junior development coaches who has a focus on building the fundamental skills for athlete development. The CJTDA will help you to:
- Reach your goals under the guidance of a professional coach
- Plan your training and race calendar
- Develop your knowledge of the sport
- Access skills clinics and camps
- Enjoy your triathlon experience with other like-minded athletes
The CJTDA will support athletes in progressing through the junior pathway to either compete at an age group level or representation at national and international triathlon events. The CJTDA is designed to facilitate the exposure of young athletes to the triathlon racing environment.
The CJTDA encourages kids to come and tri the sport to compliment existing swimming, cycling or running training. The CJTDA encourages athletes to continue their existing solo sport e.g. swimming, but merge the other sports into weekly training to provide athletes with the cross-training benefits. Triathlon will provide you an avenue to pursue something different, fun and challenging into the future.
2020 Trials – athletes between the ages of 10-18 years as at 31 December 2020
- age categories – 11-13 years, 14-15 years and 16-18 years
Trials will be held at Canberra Olympic Pool on Sunday 5 April
